Leroy's Shaked Chicken welcome's new chef Troy Deano!
Owner Stephen Hightower grew up surrounded by examples of hard work, commitment to family, and the joy of living life moment by moment. The foundation of those examples stemmed from his grandfather, Leroy Willie, a man who had grown up in a much different circumstance.
Leroy grew up in poverty but he developed a strong work ethic at a very young age because he knew hard work would pave the path to success. Paying his own way through school by working and living on the campus chicken farm, Leroy became the first in his family to graduate from LSU. After college, he went off to serve in WWII and met a very special woman named Marie. The two fell in love, married and honeymooned in New Orleans - dining and dancing.
Those early years of Leroy's adult life truly shaped the man he would become. He developed a passion for the simple things in life and for sharing them with the ones he loved. For him, there was nothing more special than cooking some of his favorite comfort foods for family and friends.
For Stephen, these gatherings became part of the traditions that he carried forward. Like those who gathered with Stephen's grandfather, Leroy's offers the flavor and quality of a home cooked meal along with a few unique spins on our favorite comfort foods.
